Anita Forte-Scott Announces Candidacy for State Representative
August 9, 2007
Schaumburg...Surrounded by family, friends and supporters Anita Forte- Scott (R, Schaumburg), current president of the Schaumburg Township District Library, announced today her candidacy for state representative in the 56th District.
“Illinois is moving in the wrong direction,” said Scott, a mother of 2. “Now more than ever, we need fresh ideas, fresh new perspectives and a real commitment to people—not politics.”
With a lifetime of experience in child care and early childhood education, Forte-Scott said it will be a natural extension of her work to go to Springfield and work to improve education in Illinois.
“Education is the cornerstone to a successful future. The state must provide the resources our local schools need to ensure our children receive a state-of-the-art education which they need in order to compete in the global marketplace.
Scott also said she will work to protect local families and businesses from onerous tax increases and job-crushing fees.
“I believe that Illinois is at a tipping point. For the past several years, we have put the long term fiscal health of the state of Illinois in jeopardy in order to avoid making tough financial decisions today,” Forte-Scott stated. “As a business owner, I know the real world just doesn’t work that way, and neither should our government in charge of our tax dollars.”
Aside from her post with the Schaumburg Library, Anita also serves as owner/administrator of the Bright Stars Academy, an early childhood education facility.
She studied Early Childhood Education at Elgin Community College and Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University. Anita has earned the prestigious National Administrator Credential and the Illinois Director Credential. She is also a recent graduate of the Illinois Lincoln Excellence in Public Service Series.
In addition, Forte-Scott is also a member of the Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates Rotary Club, Founder and President of the Poplar Creek Watershed Planning Coalition, member of the Hoffman Estates Environmental Commission and sponsor and team leader for Read Across America. She was honored in 2002 as the Illinois Environmental Educator of the Year and has received the Prairie State Service Learning Leadership Award of Excellence.
She also serves as Vice President of PSO/Illinois Child Care Association where she has been a member for 15 years. Anita has been married to her high school sweetheart, Jeff, for 19 years and they have two sons, Jeffrey, 18 and Taylor, 17.
A recent change to Illinois election law altering the Primary Election date in Illinois, also altered the dates candidates circulate petitions. The petition circulation period began Tuesday, August 7th and will continue through October 29th, 2007.
